Chocolate Bar Cheesecake Bites (Won 1st Place in a Baking Contest!)

In Other Desserts on November 16, 2010 at am

These bite sized treats are creamy, chewy, and chocolatey with a crunchy toffee crust.  They’re a great way to use up leftover halloween candy.

These won 1st place (out of 14 entries) at my sister’s company’s baking contest.  It was their annual fund raising event for charity (United Way).  The winner is determined by the employees’ votes.  Last year was my first time competing and I submitted caramel popcorn.  Unfortunately, only 3 people chose to sample it. 🙂  But of the 3 people that sampled it, 2 voted for it.  So I consider that a success.  🙂  (See the recipe for my caramel popcorn here.)

Kitty Litter Cake

In Cake Decorating, Halloween on January 27, 2010 at am

I’ve made this Kitty Litter Cake twice now and it always gets the best reactions out of people.  I’ve had people laugh, gag, and I even had someone think that it was actually kitty litter sitting on top of my table  🙂  The best part is that everyone’s always surprised at how Good it tastes.  There are several variations on the internet but this is how I’ve done it.

Worms in Dirt

In Halloween on January 26, 2010 at pm

For Halloween, my guests and I snacked on worms in dirt.

I placed gummy worms in bowls or planters pots with Oreo cookie crumbs.

Cat Diarrhea

In Halloween on January 26, 2010 at pm

At my last Halloween party, I served cat diarrhea with bones.

For the cat diarrhea, simply serve your favourite chili (homemade or store bought).  I also used a cat shaped cookie cutter to cut out slices of cheese for my chili.

As you can see in the top right hand corner of the picture, I served this with bones bread sticks.  I used store bought dough and shaped it into bones by tying the ends into knots before baking.

Potty Jello

In Halloween on January 26, 2010 at pm

For two Halloweens now, I’ve served potty jello.  I bought a brand new toilet training seat to do this. In a large white plastic bowl, I prepared 3 packets of lemon jello, following the instructions on the box.  Once the liquid cooled, before it started to set, I put mini Oh Henry chocolate bars at the bottom of the bowl.  Then I chilled and set the jello in the fridge as per the instructions on the box.  Leave it on the table and let your guests serve themselves  🙂

Whiteheads

In Halloween on January 26, 2010 at pm

For Halloween one year, I served whiteheads (or pimples).

Cut off the tops of cherry or grape tomatoes, fill them with cream cheese and tell your guests to give them a gentle squeeze before they eat them  🙂
